NSBM Green University Signs MoU with Sithnivana Mental Health Rehabilitation & Counseling Centre
NSBM Green University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sithnivana Mental Health Rehabilitation & Counseling Centre on 14th January 2026, marking an important step towards strengthening university–industry collaboration in the field of mental health and clinical training.
Sithnivana Mental Health Rehabilitation & Counseling Centre is a non-profit organization actively engaged in promoting mental health, counselling, rehabilitation, psychology, and psychotherapy to enhance community mental well-being in Sri Lanka.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of NSBM Green University, and Dr. Madura Gunawardana, Director and Clinical Psychologist of Sithnivana Mental Health Rehabilitation & Counseling Centre.
This mutually beneficial collaboration, hosted by the Department of Health Sciences, Faculty of Science, aims to facilitate knowledge sharing, collaborative activities, and practical clinical training for NSBM Nursing students, particularly in the areas of mental health and psychiatric care.
Representing NSBM at the signing were Dr. Nuwanthi Katuwavila (Dean – Faculty of Science), Dr. Madhavi Hewadikaram (Deputy Dean – Faculty of Science & Head, Department of Health Sciences), Ms. Sharini Samaranayake (Head of Industry Collaboration – Faculty of Science), and Ms. Sherien Abeygoonesekera (Career Guidance Officer).
From Sithnivana Mental Health Rehabilitation & Counseling Centre, Mr. Lalith Siriwardana (Senior Manager) was present to witness the occasion.
This partnership is expected to significantly strengthen the clinical exposure of NSBM Nursing students and contribute to the development of competent healthcare professionals equipped to address mental health challenges in Sri Lanka.
