The IEEE Student Branch of NSBM proudly celebrated IEEE Day 2025 on 7th October 2025 at NSBM Green University, under the theme “Time Traveling Through Technology & Innovation.” The event brought together inter-university students, lecturers, and professionals to celebrate the evolution of technology and its impact on the future.

 

The celebration commenced with the lighting of the oil lamp and a special cake-cutting ceremony, marking the start of an inspiring day of knowledge and collaboration. A key highlight was the panel discussion on “AI Beyond the Hype” featuring Dr. Rasika Ranaweera, Dr. Chandana Perera, Prof. Chaminda Wijesinghe, and Mr. Hansa Perera, who shared valuable insights into the realities and possibilities of Artificial Intelligence.

 

Following this, Mr. Heminda Jayaweera, Executive Director of TRACE Sri Lanka, delivered an inspiring session on “Entrepreneurship in the AI Era” emphasizing innovation and creativity in the digital age.

 

The event also featured several parallel track sessions covering cutting-edge technologies. Quantum Computing by Mr. Adhisha C. Gammanpila, Data Science & Analytics with AI by Mr. Gimnath Perera, AI & Robotics in Industry 4.0 by Mr. Malinda Sulochana, AI in Cloud Computing by Mr. Hasitha Jayasundara, and AI in Cybersecurity by Mr. Madusanka Mithrananda. Each session included an interactive quiz, with exciting prizes awarded to the winners.

 

IEEE Day 2025 at NSBM concluded with a spirit of inspiration and unity, empowering young innovators to explore new frontiers of technology and envision a future where innovation knows no bounds.
