HS (Founder of the Budi Luhur Cakti Education Foundation) To educate skilled personnel who are intelligent and virtuous, on April 1 1979 the Budi Luhur Computer Science Academy (AIK) was established in Jakarta, located at Jl. Budi Utomo No. 11 Central Jakarta. This academy aims to produce skilled or professional personnel in the computer field to meet national development needs. After two years of struggle, on August 11 1981 AIK Budi Luhur received an operational permit from the government. In the operational permit letter, the government changed the name of AIK Budi Luhur to the Budi Luhur Computer Science Academy (APK). This name was used when, on January 5 1983, based on Minister of Education and Culture Decree No. 018/O/1983 APK Budi Luhur received registered status. With its registered status, APK Budi Luhur successfully held the computer baccalaureate exam with examining lecturers from ITB. In this state exam, APK Budi Luhur graduated as the first young computer graduate in Indonesia. In connection with the preparation of the first phase of campus construction (with two two-story building units), on August 17 1985 APK Budi Luhur moved from Jl. Budi Utomo No. 11 to Jalan Raya Ciledug, Pertukangan Utara, Pesanggrahan, Jakarta Selatan.

With the increasingly stable provision of education at APK Budi Luhur, and the increasing interest and need for expertise in the computer field, the Budi Luhur Education Foundation in August 1985 established the Budi Luhur Computer Electrical Engineering Academy (ATEK) and the Budi Luhur Computer Accounting Academy (AAK). The aim of establishing ATEK Budi Luhur is to prepare personnel capable of holding positions and tasks that require knowledge of computer electrical engineering, while AAK Budi Luhur aims to prepare personnel capable of holding positions and tasks that require knowledge of accounting and computers. With the progress achieved by APK Budi Luhur, the Government granted an increase in status (accreditation) from registered to recognized based on Minister of Education and Culture Decree No. 0355/I/1986 dated 13 May 1986. The granting of recognized status resulted in the change of the name of APK Budi Luhur to Academic Management of Informatics and Computers (AMIK) Budi Luhur.

In line with the increasing need and attention of society towards computer science, as well as the increasing demand for young computer graduates to continue to the Bachelor’s degree level, the Budi Luhur College of Computer Science (STPK) was established in the even semester of the 1985-1986 academic year. As the Budi Luhur STPK became increasingly established and encouraged by all parties, in 1986 the Budi Luhur Education Foundation established the Budi Luhur Computer Electrical College (STEK) and the Budi Luhur Computer Accounting College (STAK) to provide undergraduate (S1) programs in their fields. each. At the beginning of 1987, the Budi Luhur Education Foundation felt the need to simplify the higher education institutions in its environment (STPK, STEK, and STAK Budi Luhur) into one platform. So based on Minister of Education and Culture Decree number 0720/I/1987, STPK, STEK, and STAK Budi Luhur were integrated into the Budi Luhur College of Information and Computer Management (STMIK) with the following departments and study programs:

  1. Department of Information Management, with study program: a. Informatics Management (D-III Recognized and S-1 Registered) b. Computerized Accounting (D-III and S1 Registered).
  2. Department of Informatics Engineering with the Informatics Engineering study program (Registered Bachelor’s Degree).
  3. Department of Computer Engineering, with Computer Engineering study program (D III and Registered S-1).

Driven by the desire to improve services to the increasing number of Computerized Accounting students, based on the Decree of the Chairman of the Budi Luhur Education Foundation Number 343/KBYL/XI/1989 dated 30 November 1989, the computerized accounting study program in the Informatics Management major was upgraded to the Computerized Accounting major. To diversify the business, and in connection with the completion of the construction of Units III and IV buildings, on April 1 1997 the Budi Luhur Education Foundation established the Budi Luhur College of Economics (STIE). And a year later after completing the construction of the Unit V building, on April 1 1998 the Budi Luhur Technical College (STT) was established.

On April 1 1999 the Budi Luhur Technical College (STT) was established after the Unit VI building was completed. In the context of efficiency, four high schools (STMIK, STIE, STISIP, STT) were following the Decree of the Minister of National Education 144/D/0 /2002 dated June 7 2002 were integrated into Universitas Budi Luhur. Globalization and the prolonged crisis have had an impact on increasingly tight competition for professional labor. For this reason, we need to equip ourselves with academic and practical skills to become a strong workforce that can continue to survive competition, especially in improving our careers. For this reason, Universitas Budi Luhur opens up opportunities to increase knowledge in the fields of Faculty Information Technology, Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Social Politics and Global Studies, Faculty of Communication and Creative Design, and Faculty of Engineering, which are currently still the top choices for career advancement.
