Hackathon Hub of NSBM Faculty of Computing Hosts PlymHack 2026 24-hour International Hackathon
The Hackathon Hub of NSBM Faculty of Computing proudly hosted the Sri Lankan leg of PlymHack 2026, an intensive 24-hour international hackathon organized in collaboration with the University of Plymouth, UK and Peninsula College, Malaysia.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Anton Jayakody, Master-in-Charge of Hackathon Hub, with the leadership of Dr. Rasika Ranaweera, Dean of the Faculty of Computing, and Mr. Naji Saravanapavan, Deputy Dean. The initiative was further strengthened by the collaboration and continued support of Dr. Bogdan Ghita from the University of Plymouth.
Throughout the 24-hour innovation sprint, 22 local teams engaged in an intense build cycle, pushing the boundaries of creativity and technical expertise. Following a highly competitive national round, the top eight teams presented their solutions before a distinguished panel of academic and industry judges.
Emerging as national champions, Team 404 went on to secure the position of Second Runners-Up at the international level—a significant achievement that brought global recognition to NSBM.
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 11, “Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable,” participants developed technology-driven solutions addressing pressing real-world urban challenges.
