Celebrating the beauty of words and the power of creativity, the NSBM Library, in collaboration with the NSBM Literature Circle, proudly hosted the annual Poetry Day celebration, කාව්‍යාලංකාර 2026.

 

The event was honored by the presence of renowned Sri Lankan author and poet, Mahinda Prasad Masimbula, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Distinguished guests also included the Vice Chancellor, Prof. E. A. Weerasinghe, Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Head of Academic Development & Quality Assurance, Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, and heads of departments.

 

A special highlight of this year’s celebration was the launch of the first-ever NSBM poetry anthology, “Heena – Echoes of Green”, featuring poetic creations by NSBM students and staff members. A parallel Poetry Exhibition enriched the session.

 

Organized under the guidance of Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, the event was successfully coordinated with the dedicated support of Mr. Hasantha Dissanayake, Lecturer of FOB, MIC of the Literature Circle, Mr. Praveen Ranaweera, Deputy Librarian Ms. Senani Karunarathne, and the NSBM Library team. 

 

The event beautifully reflected the artistic spirit of the NSBM community and created a memorable platform to celebrate literature, imagination, and creative voices together.
