NSBM Hosts Sri Lanka’s First-Ever University AI Film Screening

Sri Lanka’s First-Ever University AI Film Screening,” Prompt Cinema “, was successfully held on January 22 and 23 at the NSBM Green University Auditorium. Organised by BSc in Multimedia students of the 24 and 25.2 batches, the event featured an AI film screening, AI art exhibition, and competition, attracting students from several schools and universities.
 
The programme explored the growing impact of AI on storytelling and creative expression and included a discussion on “AI and the Future of Creativity” with Senior Lecturer Mr. Chaminda Attanayake, Lecturer Mr. Oshan Piyumantha and award-winning journalist Mr. Asela Bandaranayake,  as the panel of the discussion.
 
The AI Film Competition recognised outstanding works, with First Place awarded to “Soul of the Canvas” by Daruka Koralegedara and Second Place to “Mandodari” by Anjana Dunusinghe. Other notable films screened included The Mother, Hanthane, Appachchi, Magical Happen, and Unconditional.
 
The event marked a significant milestone for creative technology in Sri Lanka, highlighting NSBM’s commitment to innovation, creativity, and future-focused education.
