6th Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Session On “Curriculum Design and Revision for Academic Excellence"
Our Quality Assurance and Staff Development Center successfully conducted its 6th Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Session for 2025, titled “Curriculum Design and Revision for Academic Excellence,” on Wednesday, 19th November 2025. The session was conducted by Prof. Deepthi Chandrika Bandara, Senior Professor and former Director of the Quality Assurance Council, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.
Prof. Bandara is a distinguished academic with extensive experience in curriculum development and higher education quality assurance. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Horticulture from Pennsylvania State University, USA, and has contributed widely to teaching methodology, educational development, and national QA frameworks within Sri Lankan universities.
During the session, key areas related to curriculum enhancement were discussed, including principles of curriculum design, curriculum mapping and outcome alignment, innovative teaching and learning strategies, assessment and continuous improvement, and accreditation and quality assurance in curriculum development.
The session brought together a wide group of participants who actively engaged in productive discussions on strengthening curriculum governance and alignment with national and international standards. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Yasanthika Mathotaarachchi, Lecturer – Faculty of Computing and Faculty Quality Assurance Cell Representative, under the guidance of Dr. Malsha Mendis, Head of Internal Quality Assurance, and with the leadership and advice of Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance.
