5th Student Research Symposium in Marketing, Tourism, Multimedia & Business Communication - SRSMTM 2025

The 5th Student Research Symposium in Marketing, Tourism, Multimedia & Business Communication (SRSMTM 2025), organized by the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management, NSBM Green University, was successfully held on 10th November 2025 at the Green Board Room of the university.
SRSMTM 2025 continued the department’s commitment to fostering a strong culture of undergraduate research by providing a platform for students to present their scholarly work and engage in rich academic discussions. This year’s theme was “Beyond Excellence: Synergizing Marketing, Tourism, Multimedia and Communication for the Future”.
The symposium featured a series of insightful oral presentations by undergraduates representing the four academic cohorts within the department: Marketing, Tourism, Multimedia, and Business Communication. The research presented spanned a diverse range of subject areas.
The event was further enriched by the presence of respected academics and scholars. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Dushan Jayawickrama, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, who shared valuable insights on the importance of integrated academic perspectives and continuous knowledge exploration in shaping future-ready professionals.
SRSMTM 2025 was graced by Prof. J. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, and Ms. Thilini De Silva, Dean of the Faculty of Business. The leadership and guidance of Mr. Venura Colomboge, Head of the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management, further strengthened the academic significance of the event. The symposium was chaired by Dr. Piyumi Wickramasinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies, whose steadfast leadership contributed greatly to the successful execution of the symposium. The event was coordinated by the Symposium Secretaries, Ms. Tharushi Attanayake and Mr. Dushan Leelachandra.
Adding further value to the occasion, the event was generously sponsored by Cinnamon Hotels, in collaboration with the International Center for Tourism and Hospitality (ICTH) Club and the Marketing Circle of NSBM Green University, whose support greatly contributed to the success of the symposium.
SRSMTM 2025 stands as a reflection of the department’s ongoing mission to nurture intellectual curiosity, academic excellence, and industry-relevant knowledge among its students. It continues to inspire young researchers to pursue inquiry beyond excellence and carry forward a mindset of continuous learning as they advance into their academic and professional futures.
