His Excellency Mahinda Samarasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the United States of America, Mexico, and Trinidad & Tobago, paid a special visit to NSBM Green University.

 

H. E. the Ambassador was warmly welcomed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. E. A. Weerasinghe, along with the top management team. The visit included a tour of the NSBM premises where His Excellency witnessed firsthand the  modern developments of NSBM including the Phase II. He expressed deep admiration for the remarkable progress achieved since the university’s inception.

 

This occasion also served as a significant step in furthering discussions on ongoing efforts, led by the U.S. Mission under the Ambassador’s guidance, to establish partnerships with leading universities in the United States. The visit also included a symbolic tree-planting ceremony, where His Excellency planted a Red Sandalwood tree in NSBM Phase 2, leaving a lasting mark on NSBM soil.

 

As part of this remarkable visit, the Ambassador proudly unveiled two significant initiatives. The newly developed NSBM Library Website was officially launched, marking a new era of smart learning  for the university community. The website offers features such as online book reservations, study space bookings, instant access to digital resources, and many more. In addition, occasion featured the launch of “හරිත රාව 2025 – Echoes of Green”, the annual collection of creative poetic expressions by NSBM students and staff, celebrating the university’s vibrant academic spirit.
