Young Scientists’ Circle Celebrates World Pharmacists’ Day With PharmaXplore 2025
In celebration of World Pharmacists’ Day, the Young Scientists’ Circle of our Department of Life Sciences, Faculty of Science, proudly organized PharmaXplore 2025. The event took place on 15th October 2025, marking a day dedicated to recognizing the vital role of pharmacists and the scientific foundations of medicine.
The highlight of the event was the keynote address delivered by Mr. Sirimal Fernando, Former Director and CEO of Astron Limited, who shared valuable insights into the pharmaceutical industry and its evolving innovations.
The event was graced by Dr. Nuwanthi Katuwavila, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Dr. Miruna Rabindrakumar, Head of the Department of Life Sciences, Dr. Madhavi Hewadikaram, Head of the Department of Health Sciences, Prof. Rohini De Silva, Dr. Damayanthi Dahanayake, Lecturer-in-Charge of Young Scientists’ Circle, Ms. Nivedha Uthayarajan and several academic members of the Faculty of Science, whose presence added great encouragement to the participants.
A series of engaging activities unfolded throughout the event, including Chemistry practical sessions and an exhibition by Pharmaceutical Science students, aligning with this year’s theme, “Exploring the Science Behind Medicine.” The exhibition showcased innovative projects and experiments that emphasized the scientific principles that drive modern medicine.
