"YAKARI Episode 06" ICTH Street Food Festival returns with a Fusion of Sri Lankan and Indian Cuisine

NSBM Green University witnessed the return of YAKARI Episode 06, the Street Food Festival on 05th August 2025. The event was organized by the undergraduates of the 24.3 and 25.1 Plymouth Tourism batches under the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management as an essential component of the Food and Beverage Operations module. This marked another successful collaboration with the International Center for Tourism and Hospitality (ICTH) and ICTH Foodies of NSBM Green University.
The event was graced by the special guest, Mr. Nimal Rathne, Director of Housekeeping, Shangri-La Al Husn and Shangri-La Bar Al Jissah (Muscat).
The event welcomed the presence of the esteemed guests, the Vice Chancellor of NSBM Green University, Prof. E A Weerasinghe, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Ms. Thilini De Silva, Head of the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management, Mr. Venura Colobage, the Lecturers in Charge of the ICTH, Mr. Lasitha De Silva and Ms. Senelie Gunaratne, Lecturers in Charge of the ICTH Clusters, Ms. Tharushi Aththanayake, and Mr Dushan Leelachandra, and lecturers attached to the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management.
YAKARI Episode 06, being a competition, had several awards. The Most Popular Stall category was awarded to Desi Kottu, and the Best Stall category was awarded to Namaste Bojun. The 1st Runner-up and the 2nd Runner-up for the Best Stall category were Mojito Mandiya and Dessert Station, respectively. Further, this year’s event featured 08 food stalls and included several entertainment activities such as a flash mob and a musical chairs competition.
The event sponsors were Pinnacle House of Printing and Eco Grab. The Gift Partner was Munchee CBL Black Edition, and the Media Partner was Sterling.
