NSBM Sports Fiesta 2026
The NSBM Sports Fiesta 2026 successfully concluded its grand finale, marking the culmination of an exciting two-week-long series of competitions spanning 20 different sports. The event brought together students in a vibrant display of athleticism, unity, and sportsmanship.
The closing ceremony was held in the esteemed presence of Prof. E. A. Weerasinghe, Vice Chancellor of NSBM, whose leadership continues to inspire academic and extracurricular excellence. The occasion was further honoured by the Chief Guest, Mr. Sajeewa Medawatte, Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police – Western Province.
Adding prestige to the event were Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Deputy Vice Chancellor; Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance; along with the Deans of the respective faculties.
After intense competition and remarkable performances throughout the two-week sporting calendar, the final results were announced:
- Ruby Adventurers emerged as overall champions with an impressive 302.5 points
- Citrine Warriors secured the runners-up position with 282 points
- Sapphire Heroes claimed third place with 243 points
- Emerald Fighters finished fourth with 220.5 points
Individual excellence was also celebrated, with Pasindu Thennakoon being named Best Male Athlete. The Best Female Athlete title was jointly awarded to Visha Peiris, Lochini Weerasekara, and Onara Dassanayake for their outstanding achievements.
From its inauguration ceremony to the final event, the NSBM Sports Fiesta 2026 stood as a testament to determination, teamwork, and the true spirit of sports, reinforcing NSBM’s commitment to holistic student development.
