NSBM Joins 'Sri Lanka MICE Tourism Conclave (SLMTC) 2025
NSBM Green University partnered with ‘Sri Lanka MICE Tourism Conclave (SLMTC) 2025’ as a knowledge partner, amongst other universities in Sri Lanka offering degrees in tourism and hospitality management. This event was organized by the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) with the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB). Ms. Senelie Gunaratne, an academic from the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management at NSBM Green University and lecturer-in-charge of the ICTH, had the great honour of serving as an evaluator of innovative tourism proposals at the selection of the SLMTC 2025. She represented the university amongst the industry’s leading professionals and academics.
The event was held on 24th May at BMICH, Colombo, as a part of Sancharaka Udawa 2025, and served as a platform for youth in the tourism industry to present innovative ideas to take Sri Lanka Tourism, including MICE, to the next level. We are proud to announce that H.G. Sandalu Theshan, from NSBM Tourism 24.1 batch, representing the university, was awarded Second Runners-Up in the Innovative Tourism Proposal category (Individual) at the event for his proposal “Trails of Wings,” which highlighted butterfly conservation and MICE Tourism potential in the Sigirya-Dambulla area.
Furthermore, NSBM Green University, for the first time, participated in the Educational Pavilion of Sancharaka Udawa 2025 on 23rd and 24th May to showcase the university’s tourism, hospitality and event management offerings. A team of 12 students from the International Center for Tourism and Hospitality (ICTH) volunteered for the event as Support Staff for the third consecutive year.
