NSBM International Center for Tourism and Hospitality Hosts Travel Expo ’26 First-ever Travel Exhibition

Travel Expo ’26, organized by NSBM’s International Center for Tourism and Hospitality (ICTH), marked a significant milestone as the first-ever travel exhibition of its kind at NSBM Green University.

The exhibition showcased the creativity, professionalism, and industry readiness of the 24.2/ 25.1 NSBM Tourism batch, who presented their innovative concepts to the wider academic and industry community. Travel Expo ’26 was inspired by international travel fairs such as WTM London, IFTM Paris, and ATM Dubai, as well as the local travel fair, Sancharaka Udawa.

The event witnessed the honoured presence of the Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, the Dean of the Faculty of Business, Dr. Thilini De Silva, and the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Business, Mr. Venura Colombage. The Expo also saw the attendance of the lecturers of the tourism cohort of the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management: Mr. Lasitha De Silva, Ms. Senelie Gunaratne, Ms. Tharushi Attanayake, Mr. Dushan Leelachandra, Ms. Samadhi Dodantenna, and Ms. Prabodya Munasinghe.

The organizers were especially honored to welcome Mr. Daham Rajasekara, General Manager of Connaissance De Ceylan, as the Chief Guest. He addressed the gathering, shared valuable industry insights, and presented awards to the teams that secured the Best Exhibit and Most Innovative Idea. The evaluations for these awards were conducted by Mr. Rajasekara, where Group 10 (JourneySync Capsules) received the award for the Best Exhibit, and Group 16 (Sustainable Wedding Planning) took home the award, including a cash prize for the Most Innovative Idea.

Notably, the exhibition formed part of the formal assessment for the second-year module, ‘Tourism Planning and Development,’ of the 24.2/25.1 NSBM Tourism batch, reflecting the students’ ability to effectively translate academic knowledge into practical, industry-relevant solutions.
