The Faculty of Business, under the patronage of Ms. Thilini De Silva, Dean of the Faculty, hosted Professor Jyotika Ramaprasad from the University of Miami, USA, for a three-day series of interactive sessions with students and academics.

 

Professor Ramaprasad, from the School of Communication of University of Miami, USA, brings expertise in intercultural communication, global social change, and quantitative research methods. Her global research spans health, environmental, and journalism studies, and she has published widely in renowned journals such as the Journal of Advertising, Asian Journal of Communication, and International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction, among others.

 

During her visit to NSBM, Professor Ramaprasad addressed BSc in Multimedia students about the importance of rightful expression through modes of communication. The classroom took an interactive turn with questions and feedback.

 

In addition, she participated in a collaborative discussion with lecturers of English, led by Dr. Piyumi Wickremesinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies / Senior Lecturer in English. The meeting, also attended by Ms. Shehani Dilhara and Ms. Avishki Perera, focused on exploring current, innovative pedagogies to uplift Business Communication degree programmes at the campus.
