NSBM Faculty of Computing Hosts “Ma Nodath Mal Petha - Inter School Competition”

The Faculty of Computing successfully organized the “Ma Nodath Mal Petha – Inter School Competition” on 13th November 2025, under the theme “New Creations Inspired by Indigenous Folk Songs.”
 
This creative competition served as the prelude to the grand “Ma Nodath Mal Petha” folklore appreciation event, providing a vibrant platform for school students across the island to showcase their innovative talents inspired by Sri Lanka’s rich folk heritage.
 
Participants presented a diverse array of performances and compositions that beautifully blended traditional folk elements with contemporary creativity, celebrating the timeless spirit of indigenous culture.
 
The competition was enriched by the presence of Senior Lecturer, Visharad Samitha Lakmal Samarathunga, Visharad Ranga Manupriya, Visharad Nilantha Sanjeewa Ranasinghe as the judge panel.  The competition was coordinated by the Faculty of Computing students, under the guidance of Ms. Chathurma Wijesinghe, Lecturer of Faculty of Computing.
 
The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both participants and audiences, who appreciated its creativity, inclusivity, and contribution to preserving and reimagining folk traditions for the modern generation.
