NSBM Faculty of Computing Empowers Kurunegala Rambadagalla Central College Students

NSBM Faculty of Computing, in collaboration with Rambadagalla Central College, Ridigama, Kurunegala successfully conducted an inspiring school outreach seminar program on 27th June 2025, under the theme “Growing Up with Technology as Generation Alpha.” The event sparked curiosity and strengthened digital confidence among young learners, aligning seamlessly with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education by promoting inclusive, equitable, and future-focused learning opportunities.
 
The program featured a series of insightful sessions delivered by distinguished NSBM academics. Adding further prestige, Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Deputy Vice Chancellor delivered a special keynote session on personal and professional development of Generation Alpha, marking a truly enriching experience for all the school children.
 
Dr. Rasika Ranaweera, Dean – Faculty of Computing, spoke on the transformative potential of AR/VR technologies, Prof. Chaminda Wijesinghe, Head – Department of Computer Science and Data Science, emphasized the impact of Artificial Intelligence, and Dr. Mohamed Shafraz, Head – Department of Software Engineering and Computer Security, shared valuable insights into Software Engineering and Information Systems. Ms. Pavithra Kankanamge, Head – Industry Collaboration Unit, addressed the evolving industry expectations from Generation Alpha, while Mr. Savindu Dhamsara led an engaging interactive session on Extended Reality. The event was successfully organized by Ms. Lakni Peiris, Lecturer – Department of Software Engineering and Computer Security.
