IQAU and Staff Development Centre Launch CPD Series with Session on Effective Module Design
The Internal Quality Assurance Unit (IQAU) and the Staff Development Centre (SDC) at NSBM, in collaboration with the Faculty Quality Assurance Cells, successfully concluded the first session of the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) series on 21st July 2025. The session, titled “Crafting Clarity: How to Develop an Effective Module Descriptor,” focused on enhancing the academic quality of teaching and learning at NSBM.
This insightful session was conducted by Prof. Gominda Ponnamperuma, a renowned expert in medical and higher education from the University of Colombo. Prof. Ponnamperuma provided an in-depth exploration into the development of high-quality module descriptors, emphasizing the importance of well-defined learning outcomes, constructive alignment, and adherence to national academic standards such as the Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework (SLQF) and Quality Assurance Framework (QAA).
The session highlighted the crucial role of module descriptors in ensuring academic clarity, transparency, and consistency while promoting a student-centered learning experience.
The occasion was graced by Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, with the active participation of academic staff members from across all faculties of NSBM.
