Convocation Week 2025 - Day 1 Celebrates Over 580 Business Graduates of NSBM-Offered Degrees
Day 1 of NSBM Convocation Week 2025 unfolded with distinction and pride as the Faculty of Business celebrated the accomplishments of over 580 graduates across multiple NSBM-offered degree programmes.
The conferment of degrees throughout the day was officiated by Prof. E. A. Weerasinghe, Vice-Chancellor of NSBM, together with Ms. Thilini De Silva, Dean of the Faculty of Business. Each session was further enriched by the presence of esteemed industry leaders who joined as keynote speakers, sharing insights to inspire the newest cohort of graduates.
The first session celebrated the graduation of 40 students who successfully completed the BSc in Business Management (Human Resource Management) and BBM in Tourism, Hospitality, and Events degree programmes.
The ceremony was graced by Dr. Narendra De Silva, Head of Engineering at Lanka Electricity Company (Pvt) Ltd, who delivered an inspiring keynote address. This session proudly recognised the following outstanding achievers:
- Best Performer & CIPM SL Gold Award – BSc (HRM): H. R. Pabodha Jayaweera
- Gold Medalist – BBM (Tourism, Hospitality & Events): W. Binuri Mehara
- Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts Gold Award for Best Research (2025): Janani Sankalpana Mahagamage
The second session saw 272 graduates of the BM (Honours) in Accounting & Finance programme receiving their degrees.
Mr. Sanath Manatunge, Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Bank, delivered the keynote speech, offering valuable insights to the graduating cohort.
The session also celebrated top-performing students for their exemplary achievements:
- Best Performance Award: A. A. Yasuri Yashodara
- CIMA Gold Award – Management Accounting: Kithmi Induwarani Kariyawasam
- ACCA Gold Award – Financial Accounting: M. Shaveen Praminda Fernando
Day 1 concluded with the graduation of 270 students from the BSc in Multimedia and BSc in Business Management (Logistics Management) (Special) programmes.
The session was enriched by keynote addresses from two eminent industry leaders: Mr. Bingumal Thewarathanthri, CEO of Standard Chartered, and Mr. Thimal Perera, CEO of DFCC Bank. The following students were honoured for their outstanding academic performance:
- Best Performance – BSc in Multimedia: Sayuri Nethara Abeyesekera
- Best Performance – BSc in Logistics Management: Mohamed Maalik Majeed
