NSBM Green University wins United Nations Volunteers Country Award for its remarkable volunteerism in Sri Lanka


NSBM Green University was commended at United Nations Volunteers Country Awards in recognition of integrating and promoting the value of volunteerism within the Tertiary Education Sector in Sri Lanka. The awarding ceremony took place yesterday (7th December 2021) in Colombo.

NSBM has engaged in CSR pursuits throughout the years since its inception, adding value to many lives all around the country. These CSR pursuits include the education facilities development initiatives, green initiatives and aid for people in need. Showcasing its commitment towards society, NSBM executed many immediate disaster relief projects and donations of funds during floods and other natural disasters. NSBM student CSR initiatives targeting the Covid impacted families such as distribution of dry rations and personal hygiene items, made a significant impact during the prevailing Covid 19 situation. Also, NSBM donated a substantial amount to the COVID-19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund of the Government of Sri Lanka.

The award received at the awarding ceremony was presented to Prof. E. A. Weerasinghe, Vice Chancellor of NSBM Green University, today at the university premises by Mr. Sanath Wickramasinghe, Senior Lecturer of Faculty of Business who is in charge of NSBM CSR activities.
