NSBM Celebrates 9th Anniversary with Overnight Pirith Chanting Ceremony

In culmination of the Religious Blessing Events commemorating NSBM Green University’s 9th Anniversary, an Overnight Pirith Chanting Ceremony is held at the NSBM Hostel premises. This spiritual observance seeks to invoke the blessings of the Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha upon the entire NSBM community—including staff, students, alumni, parents, and the university’s continued journey ahead.

The ceremony commenced with a vibrant and devotional procession, as the venerable Maha Sangha were respectfully ushered to the beautifully adorned Pirith Mandapaya, led by traditional drummers and flag bearers. In a moment of deep reverence, the sacred relic casket was carried to the venue with utmost devotion.

The solemn event was attended by Vice Chancellor, Prof. E. A. Weerasinghe, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Prof. J. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Deans of the faculties, Heads of departments, staff members, students, alumni, and distinguished guests, who all gathered to seek blessings for NSBM’s prosperous future.

Following the conclusion of the Overnight Pirith Chanting, Heel Dane (morning almsgiving) was respectfully offered to the venerable Maha Sangha at dawn, marking the spiritual conclusion of NSBM’s 9th Anniversary Religious Blessing Events.

On this sacred occasion, the Maha Sangha graciously bestowed blessings upon the university’s staff, students, and well-wishers, acknowledging NSBM’s significant contributions to higher education both nationally and internationally.
