The Department of Operations and Logistics organized an educational field visit to PGP Glass Ceylon PLC, the only glass bottle manufacturer in Sri Lanka, located in Wagawaththa, Horana. This visit was specially arranged for students pursuing the BSc in Business Management (Industrial Management Special) and BSc in Business Management (Logistics Management Special) degree programmes.
The visit provided students with a valuable opportunity to observe real-world manufacturing practices and logistics operations within a leading industrial setting. It enabled them to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical exposure, fostering a deeper understanding of operations and logistics management.
A highlight of the visit was the interactive sessions conducted by Mr. Muditha Wadduwage and Mr. Viraj Madushan, who shared their industry expertise, explaining in detail the entire glass bottle manufacturing process.
This field visit was successfully organized by the Logistics Circle under the guidance of Mr. Shaja Musthaffa, Head of the Department, and Ms. Rekha Kulasekara, Module Lecturer and Mistress-in-Charge of the Logistics Circle. Mr. Praveen Ranaweera, representing the academic staff, also participated in the visit.
