A group of 60 students from the Department of Management (HRM Specialization) and the Department of Legal Studies at NSBM Green University participated in an educational study visit to the Department of Labour, Sri Lanka, at the Narahenpita Labour Secretariat on 18 August 2026.

The visit was organised to provide students with practical exposure to labour administration and workplace relations, complementing their academic learning in Human Resource Management and Legal Studies.

As part of the programme, students participated in three informative sessions conducted by Assistant Commissioners of Labour, covering key areas related to the functions and services of the Department of Labour, labour inspections and compliance audits, and labour dispute prevention and conciliation.

The sessions provided students with valuable insights into the practical application of labour laws, regulatory procedures and dispute resolution mechanisms within Sri Lanka’s employment landscape. The experience enabled students to gain a broader understanding of how concepts discussed in the classroom are applied within professional and institutional settings.

Three academic staff members representing the Department of Management and the Department of Legal Studies also accompanied the students throughout the visit, supporting the learning experience and facilitating engagement with the resource personnel.
