Reaffirming the shared commitment and mutual bond to research and development endeavours, NSBM Green University and the Centre for Defence Research and Development (CDRD) under the Ministry of Defence have extended their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). 

The extended MoU solidifies the partnership between the two parties, facilitating collaboration in various areas, including but not limited to technical consultancy, joint research and development projects, and technical training in fields of mutual interest. 

Through the extension, the CDRD will explore the possibility of obtaining the specialist technical expertise of NSBM through project consultancies, R&D project implementations, training programs, and technology development initiatives. The NSBM shall explore the possibility of obtaining the specialist technical expertise of the CDRD through R&D project implementations, training programs, and technology development initiatives. 

The agreement for extension was signed between the Deputy Vice Chancellor of NSBM Green University, Prof. Chamindha Rathnayake and the Director General of CDRD,  Maj Gen R Elvitigala USP. The occasion was witnessed by Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Prof. Bharatha Dodankotuwa, Dean – Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Chandana Perera, Head – Department of Electrical, Electronics & Systems Engineering, Ms Kaumadee Samarakoon, Head – Department of Bio-Medical Science, Dr. Damayanthi Dahanayake representing NSBM Green University while CDRD was represented by Deputy Director General, Commodore (L) TDS De Silva USP psc, Chief Controller, Gp Capt AS Elegoda USP, Staff Officer I, Lt Col ALRP Amarasinghe, Chief Coordinator – Radio & Electronic Wing, Captain DSC Dissanayake, Chief Coordinator – Electrical & Mechanical Wing, Cdr KATN Samaraweera, Chief Coordinator -IT & GIS Wing, Lt Cdr CS Rajapaksha.
