TECHWAVE 1.0 Inspires Active Learning and Innovation at NSBM

TECHWAVE 1.0, an active learning competition organised by the STEMUP Club of NSBM Green University, was successfully held at the Faculty of Computing Study Area, bringing together 20 student teams for an engaging and challenging learning experience.
Designed to take learning beyond the traditional classroom environment, TECHWAVE 1.0 provided students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge of mathematics, statistics, logical reasoning, and computing to solve challenges and develop solutions to real-world problems.
The competition consisted of two rounds. In the first round, participating teams worked collaboratively to solve a series of mathematical, statistical, logical, and computing-based challenges within a limited timeframe, testing their ability to think critically and work effectively under pressure.
The second round challenged teams to apply their knowledge to a real-world problem scenario, requiring them to develop an appropriate solution using mathematical and computational modelling concepts. The teams then prepared posters illustrating their proposed solutions and presented their work before a panel of judges for evaluation.
Through this active and experiential learning approach, TECHWAVE 1.0 provided students with valuable opportunities to strengthen a range of essential skills, including problem-solving, logical and analytical thinking, teamwork, creativity, communication, presentation, leadership, and time management.
The event was graced by Dr. Rasika Ranaweera, Dean of the Faculty of Computing; Mr. Saravanapan Nasiketha, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Computing; Ms. Pavitra Subashini, Head of Industry Collaboration and Senior Lecturer; and Ms. Kavishka Rajapaksha, Mistress in Charge of the STEMUP Club, along with other esteemed academic staff members.
The successful competition was organised under the guidance of Ms. Kavishka Rajapaksha, MIC of the STEMUP Club, together with the dedicated members of the STEMUP Board, whose commitment contributed to creating a dynamic and enriching learning experience for the participating students.
