The Student Research Symposium in Marketing, Tourism and Multimedia (SRSMTM 2023) organized by the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management of NSBM Green University concluded successfully on 20th of October 2023 at the University premises. The event was organized in partnership with Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts, a longstanding advocate of the university’s tourism and hospitality-related projects. 

SRSMTM 2023, inculcates research culture as it was the third student research symposium organized by the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management. This year’s theme was “TRANSCENDING BORDERS: MEDIA, MARKETING AND THE FUTURE OF TOURISM“. 
The symposium featured over 16 oral presentations and 6 poster presentations of undergraduates of the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management across a wide array of sub-disciplines, including destination marketing, sustainable tourism, consumer behaviour, digital marketing and technological advancements in the tourism industry. 

The event’s academic value was further enhanced by the presence of several eminent scholars and industry practitioners. Professor Dinesh Samarasinghe, Dean Faculty of Business, the University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka graced the SRSMTM ’23 as the keynote speaker and shared his immeasurable knowledge in marketing, tourism and multimedia utilization highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary perspectives on immersive experiential marketing for customer-driven nations’ branding. Moreover, Ms. Sriyangani Dhanapala, Director, Brand Development of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, also graced the occasion as the guest speaker and shared her insights about the tourism industry and its future in line with the SRSMTM ’23 theme. 

SRSMTM ’23 was graced by Prof. E.A. Weerasinghe the Vice Chancellor of the NSBM Green University, Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Ms. Thilini De Silva, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Dr. Chaminda Wijesinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Computing Mr. Venura Colobage, Head of the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management, and academia of the university.
