Ignite 1.0, the first-ever hackathon organized by the STEMUP Club of NSBM, was successfully held at the Faculty of Computing Study Area as a web designing challenge for Faculty of Computing students. 

 

Organized in two rounds, the competition aimed to encourage students to apply their technical knowledge, creativity, problem-solving, and innovation to develop practical web-based solutions for real-world challenges. Out of 35 teams that competed in the selection round, 12 teams were chosen for the final round.

 

The event was graced by the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Dr. Rasika Ranaweera; Deputy Dean, FOC and Head of Software Engineering and Computer Security, Mr. Saravanapan Nasiketha; Head of Industry Collaboration and Senior Lecturer, Ms. Pavitra Subashini; Mistress in Charge of the STEMUP Club, Ms. Kavishka Rajapaksha; along with other esteemed lecturers.

 

We are also proud to have Virtusa as the Knowledge Partner of Ignite 1.0. The final round was judged by the distinguished panel from Virtusa: Mr. Laksiri Balasooriya, Mr. Nonim Samarakon, Mr. Mohamed Salik, and Mr. Aniston Leo.

 

The event was successfully organized under the guidance of Ms. Kavishka Rajapaksha, MIC of the STEMUP Club, together with the dedicated STEMUP Board. Team 404 secured the winning place, Team Power secured the 1st Runner-Up place, and Team 8080 secured the 2nd Runner-Up place.
