HARITHA THAKSHALAWA, a school outreach programme organised by STEMUP at NSBM Green University, was successfully conducted at Yashodara Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha, bringing together approximately 70 Advanced Level ICT students for an engaging learning experience in web development.

The programme focused on introducing students to fundamental concepts in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP, while providing opportunities to apply their learning through hands-on activities in basic web page design and development. The workshop combined theoretical explanations with practical sessions, enabling students to gain a foundational understanding of how different web technologies contribute to building websites.

Through the practical activities, students had the opportunity to explore web development concepts in an interactive setting and apply their newly acquired knowledge to basic development tasks. The sessions were designed to encourage curiosity, creativity and greater interest in computing and web technologies.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Ms. Kavishka Rajapaksha, MIC of the STEMUP Club, with the dedicated participation and support of members of the NSBM STEMUP Club.

Through HARITHA THAKSHALAWA, the STEMUP Club continues to create opportunities for school students to expand their knowledge beyond the classroom, strengthen their practical ICT skills and explore emerging areas within computing and technology.

The initiative reflects NSBM Green University’s commitment to supporting school-level STEM education and encouraging young learners to explore the possibilities of technology as they prepare for their future academic and professional journeys.
