The Circle of Cloud & Cyber Innovations (CCCI) of the Faculty of Computing at NSBM Green University successfully concluded Capture the Throne 2026, its annual Inter-University Capture the Flag (CTF) competition, on 14 July 2026, bringing together some of Sri Lanka’s brightest cybersecurity talent for a day of intense technical challenges and collaborative problem-solving.

The competition attracted 85 participants representing 24 teams from leading higher education institutions across the country, including the University of Moratuwa, University of Colombo, SLIIT, SLTC, ESU, IIT, ICST, and NSBM Green University. Participants competed across a series of cybersecurity challenges designed to test their expertise in areas such as ethical hacking, digital forensics, cryptography, web security, reverse engineering, and network security.

Throughout the competition, teams demonstrated outstanding technical capabilities, analytical thinking, teamwork, and resilience as they tackled real-world cybersecurity scenarios in a highly competitive environment.

A significant highlight of this year’s event was the partnership with Legion Offensive Security, the official Technology Partner of the competition. The company holds a special place within the NSBM community, having been founded by graduates of the Victoria University Australia Cyber Security programme offered at NSBM Green University. Their continued engagement with the university reflects the strength of NSBM’s alumni network and its commitment to nurturing future cybersecurity professionals.

Capture the Throne 2026 once again reinforced NSBM Green University’s dedication to advancing cybersecurity education by providing students with valuable opportunities to apply their knowledge, develop practical skills, and engage with industry professionals. The event also strengthened collaboration among universities while fostering innovation, ethical hacking practices, and excellence in cybersecurity across Sri Lanka.
