NSBM School of Computing Inaugurates of Industry Preparation Training (IPT) – 2020


Industry Preparation Training (IPT) – 2020 was inaugurated today at NSBM Faculty of Computing targeting the Plymouth computing students who are entering the 3rd year of academic studies.

The industry preparation program is an initiative that helps the student for a smooth and easy transition to industrial life after the studies at the university. It is to provide the first hands-on experience on the industrial life and knowledge how to thrive in the industry, through knowledge of experienced IT professionals. A team of experienced IT professional, who have extensive experience working in large scale IT firms and have interacted with all tiers of IT professionals such as novices, seniors and managers have been chosen as trainers of the program.

Mr Chanuka Wattegama – Head of Policy Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) gave an insight into the ICT industry to the students during the inauguration session. During his speech, Mr Wattegama highlighted the key areas to focus on when entering the industry and elaborated on the future of the ICT Profession in Sri Lanka. Mr Shehan Kumar, Senior Manager – Employer Branding & Engagement at Pearson, contributed to the session with an excellent motivational speech.

Professor Chaminda Rathnayake – Deputy Vice-Chancellor of NSBM, Dr Rasike Ranaweera – Dean School of Computing, Ms Manoja Weerasekara – Head School of Computing, and other senior academics participated for the event. The Senior Lecturer Ms Pavitrha Subhashini coordinates the IPT Programme of NSBM.
