The NSBM Vice Chancellor’s Challenge Trophy 2026 brought together the excitement of competitive rugby and the enduring spirit of the NSBM community as the NSBM Rugby Team took on the NSBM Alumni Team in a thrilling encounter held on 22nd July 2026 at the NSBM Phase II Grounds.

The much-anticipated match showcased exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship from both teams, creating an electrifying atmosphere for players and spectators alike. Following an intense and spirited contest, the NSBM Rugby Team emerged victorious, proudly securing the Vice Chancellor’s Challenge Trophy 2026.

The event was graced by Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance and Rugby Lecturer-in-Charge; Mr. Thisal Yatawara, Head of Student Affairs; and Mr. Hasantha Dissanayake, Lecturer-in-Charge of Rugby, together with many members of the academic staff whose presence and encouragement added to the significance of the occasion.

More than just a competition, the Vice Chancellor’s Challenge Trophy celebrated the strong bond between current students and alumni while reinforcing NSBM Green University’s commitment to promoting excellence in sports, teamwork, leadership, and a vibrant university culture.
