NSBM Quantity Surveying Students Gain Practical Experience at Annual Surveying Camp 2026
The Quantity Surveying students at NSBM Department of Design Studies took their learning beyond the classroom at the Annual Surveying Camp 2026, gaining practical experience in surveying techniques and equipment used in the construction industry.
The camp featured a hands-on site surveying session conducted by Lecturer Mr. Hashan Madushanka, providing students with an opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. Through field-based activities, students gained experience using key surveying instruments, including the Auto Level, Total Station and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS).
The practical sessions helped students develop their familiarity with surveying equipment and techniques, while strengthening their understanding of the measurements and field data essential to construction projects. Such experiences play an important role in preparing aspiring Quantity Surveyors to apply their knowledge and skills in professional settings.
By incorporating practical fieldwork into their academic experience, NSBM continues to provide students with opportunities to connect classroom learning with the demands of the construction industry, supporting their development as competent and adaptable professionals in the built environment.
