NSBM Psychology Students Mark World Mental Health DayÂ
Psychology students from the Department of Health Sciences, Faculty of Science, NSBM Green University, in collaboration with the Circle of Nursing and Psychology Students (CNAPS), marked World Mental Health Day with an awareness event held on 15 October 2026 at the NSBM Student Centre.
Observed annually on 10 October, World Mental Health Day highlights the importance of mental well-being and encourages greater awareness and understanding of mental health. The event aimed to familiarise students with mental health services available within the university and beyond, while promoting open conversations and fostering a supportive, stigma-free campus environment.
Through a series of interactive activities focused on emotional awareness, positivity and open discussion, the event provided students with an opportunity to reflect on their mental well-being, connect with their peers and recognise the importance of seeking support when needed. The activities also encouraged a more open and understanding approach to mental health within the university community.
The event was attended by Dr. Nuwanthi Katuwavila, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Dr. Madhavi Hewadikaram, Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies and Professional Advancement and Head of the Department of Health Sciences; and Prof. Pathmalal Manage, Senior Professor attached to the Department of Life Sciences, along with academic staff members and students from across the university.
Through initiatives such as this, NSBM Green University continues to encourage awareness, understanding and meaningful conversations around mental health, contributing to a university environment where students feel heard, valued and supported.
