NSBM Nursing Undergraduates Celebrate International Nurses’ Day 2026
The International Nurses’ Day Celebration, organized by the Nursing Undergraduates of the BSc (Hons) Nursing Degree Program attached to the Department of Health Sciences at our Faculty of Science, was held on 10th June 2026. The event honored the nursing profession and recognized the invaluable contributions of nurses to healthcare and society.
The ceremony was formally inaugurated with the lighting of the Nightingale Lamp, symbolizing the spirit of nursing and compassion. This significant moment was graced by Senior Grade Nursing Tutor Ms. Sandyani de Silva, who serves as the Principal and Course Coordinator of the BSc (Hons) Nursing Degree Program.
The event was further honored by the presence of Dr. Nuwanthi Katuwavila, Dean, Faculty of Science, and Dr. Madavi Hewadikaram, Dean, Faculty of Postgraduate Studies and Professional Advancement, along with all academic staff members of the Faculty of Science.
The celebration was enriched with a variety of cultural and artistic performances, including dancing, drama, and singing items, alongside meaningful speeches delivered by students and faculty members. These activities highlighted the dedication, compassion, and professional values of the nursing profession while fostering unity and enthusiasm among students and staff
