The 6th International Conference on Business Innovation (ICOBI 2023) organized by NSBM Green University concluded successfully on 24th November 2023 at our own lush green university premises, with the theme of “Accelerating Societal Change Through Digital Transformation”.

ICOBI 2023 unfolded under two distinct stages. Leading up to the main event, an engaging Pre-conference was organised as Stage 1 to provide valuable context in advance. The Pre-conference took place on 22nd November 2023, at the Faculty of Business, NSBM Green University, comprising enlightening keynote addresses delivered by two distinguished academics: Prof. Tharusha N Gunarathne from the University of Colombo and Prof. N. Jayantha Dewasiri from the University of Sabaragamuwa.

Stage 2 – the conference day featured the inauguration ceremony in the morning. The commencement of this timely international conference was marked by the esteemed presence of Keynote Speakers; Prof. Archie C. A. Clements, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation at the University of Plymouth, UK, and Prof. Roshan Gabriel Ragel, the Head of the Department of Computer Engineering at the University of Peradeniya, alongside other distinguished guests at the NSBM Auditorium.

The event was further graced with the presence of Prof. E. A. Weerasinghe, Vice Chancellor of NSBM Green University, Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Head – Academic Development & Quality Assurance, Deans of the Faculties, academics, local and international researchers, industry experts, academics and students of NSBM.

The inauguration ceremony was also accompanied by several insightful speeches and research presentations, including the two keynote speeches. Among the two eminent keynote speakers, Prof. Archie C. A. Clements presented his insights and analysis on “Infectious Disease Data Visualisation Platforms for Public Consumption: Advances in the Era of COVID-19” whilst the topic of “Generative AI in Education: Catalyzing Digital Transformation for Societal Advancement” was addressed in the keynote speech delivered by Prof. Roshan Gabriel Ragel.

As ICOBI 2023 unfolded throughout the day, the inauguration ceremony was followed by a dynamic lineup of parallel sessions and poster presentations conducted under ten (10) specific themes. The day brought about a convergence of innovative ideas, diverse perspectives, and collaborative endeavours, fostering an environment conducive to advancing business innovation on a global scale
