NSBM Hosts Critical Literature Review Workshop for Doctoral Researchers

The Faculty of Postgraduate and Professional Advancement at NSBM Green University hosted a two-day workshop on Critical Literature Review for PhD students, facilitated by Dr. Payal Kumar, Principal Academic Advisor at the Indian School of Hospitality, India.
The workshop provided doctoral researchers with an opportunity to strengthen their understanding of critically engaging with scholarly literature and its role in building a rigorous research foundation. Drawing on her extensive experience in research, academic publishing and scholarly reviewing, Dr. Kumar shared insights into developing a more analytical and critical approach to reviewing existing literature.
Her guidance highlighted the importance of moving beyond summarising published work to examining, evaluating and connecting scholarly perspectives in order to identify research gaps and establish a strong foundation for doctoral research.
The learning opportunity also extended to students of the Master of Education programme, who engaged with Dr. Kumar’s insights and explored their relevance to postgraduate study and educational research. Newly admitted PhD students also had the opportunity to meet Dr. Kumar, gaining an early opportunity to connect with an experienced academic as they embarked on their doctoral journeys.
Through initiatives such as this, NSBM Green University continues to support postgraduate learning and research development, encouraging students to engage critically with scholarship and strengthen their academic research capabilities.
