NSBM Hosts Corporate–Academic Round Table to Shape the Future of Postgraduate Computing Education

The Faculty of Postgraduate Studies and Professional Advancement of NSBM Green University successfully hosted the Corporate–Academic Round Table (CART), bringing together distinguished academics and industry leaders to strengthen postgraduate computing education through strategic collaboration and knowledge sharing.
The round table served as a platform to foster meaningful dialogue on the future direction of postgraduate computing programmes, with discussions centred on developing a three-to-five-year strategic roadmap for the Master of Information Technology (MIT) and Master of Science in Information Technology (MSc IT) programmes. Participants also explored opportunities for introducing new postgraduate programmes aligned with evolving industry demands and global technological trends.
Key areas of discussion included curriculum enhancement, emerging technologies, graduate competencies, professional and industry certifications, and the future skills required to meet the rapidly changing digital workforce. The session also generated valuable recommendations for the proposed joint postgraduate programmes in Data Science and Business Analytics to be offered in collaboration with the University of Plymouth, further strengthening NSBM’s commitment to delivering globally relevant postgraduate education.

The session was chaired by Dr. Madhavi Hewadikaram, Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies and Professional Advancement, and moderated by Dr. Rasika Ranaweera, Dean of the Faculty of Computing. The event was coordinated by Dr. Pabudi Abeyrathne, Programme Coordinator of the MIT and MSc IT Programmes.
