NSBM Green University has once again made its mark in university cricket, with the NSBM Cricket Team securing the KDU Leaders’ Trophy Inter-University T20 Cricket Championship 2026, marking its second consecutive Inter-University Cricket Championship following its historic championship victory last year.

Maintaining an exceptional run throughout the tournament, NSBM emerged as the only unbeaten team, demonstrating remarkable consistency, discipline and determination across the competition.

In the final against SLIIT, NSBM delivered a commanding all-round performance. An outstanding bowling display, led by Punsara Rajakaruna, who claimed 3 wickets for 23 runs, restricted SLIIT to 130/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing the target, NSBM maintained its composure despite early setbacks, with Ushen Silva producing a match-winning unbeaten knock of 63 runs. He was well supported by Lahiru Abeysinghe, whose explosive 44 runs off just 21 balls provided the decisive momentum to the innings. NSBM successfully reached the target with five wickets in hand and nine balls remaining, securing a convincing victory and retaining the championship title.

The final also saw individual recognition for two outstanding performers. Ushen Silva was named Player of the Final for his match-winning unbeaten half-century, while Amoda Vidanapathirana was crowned Player of the Tournament following an outstanding all-round campaign. Across four matches, Vidanapathirana contributed 169 runs and three wickets, playing a pivotal role in NSBM’s unbeaten journey to the championship.
