NSBM Computing and Business Students Explore Microsoft Technology Ecosystem

Students from the Faculties of Computing and Business explored the Microsoft Technology Ecosystem through an engaging session on “Developing Digital Competencies for Professional Success”. The session was conducted by Zayd Isa Ahmed, Associate Microsoft Student Ambassador and Student Technology Educator, with a focus on equipping students with practical digital competencies and greater awareness of technology platforms relevant to academic, professional, and career development.
A central component of the session was a hands-on Microsoft Power BI workshop, introducing students to the principles of data visualisation, business intelligence, and data-driven decision-making. Designed to be relevant to students from both the Faculty of Computing and Faculty of Business, the workshop demonstrated how data analytics can be applied across technical, operational, and business contexts to derive meaningful insights and support informed decision-making.
The session also provided an introduction to Microsoft Azure and GitHub, highlighting their relevance to cloud computing, software development, collaboration, and contemporary technology practices. In parallel, Microsoft Learn and LinkedIn were explored as valuable platforms for continuous learning, professional development, industry engagement, and establishing a strong professional presence.
Beyond introducing individual platforms, the session emphasised the broader importance of developing a well-rounded digital skill set. Students were encouraged to recognise technology not merely as a collection of tools, but as an integral component of modern professional practice; supporting innovation, collaboration, analytical thinking, continuous learning, and adaptability.
Bringing together students from the Faculty of Computing and Faculty of Business, the session provided an interdisciplinary perspective on how digital competencies can complement different fields of study and contribute to career readiness in an increasingly technology-driven professional environment.
The session reflects the importance of creating opportunities for students to engage with industry-relevant technologies, practical learning experiences, and emerging professional practices, while encouraging them to continuously develop the skills required to navigate the evolving demands of the modern workplace
