NSBM Business Students Turn SDG Ideas into Real-World ImpactÂ
The Faculty of Business of NSBM Green University successfully conducted the CREST Evaluation Day, bringing together 18 student groups to showcase their innovative, action-oriented projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As part of the CREST programme, the 18 student groups developed and implemented 36 SDG-driven projects, with each team undertaking two projects addressing one or more of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. Over the course of several months, the students transformed their ideas into practical initiatives, gaining hands-on experience in project planning, fundraising, community outreach, digital campaigning, and on-ground implementation.
CREST Evaluation Day provided an opportunity for the teams to present their projects and demonstrate the outcomes and impact achieved through their initiatives. The evaluations assessed the projects across multiple dimensions, recognising not only the effectiveness of the initiatives but also the creativity, collaboration, communication, and overall execution demonstrated by the students.
Following the evaluations, outstanding projects and teams were recognised through several award categories, including the Best Overall Project Awards – 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Places, the Partnership & Outreach Awards, the Student Choice Award, determined through peer voting, as well as the Digital & Communication Awards and Design & Presentation Awards.
The diverse award categories celebrated excellence across the different stages of the students’ SDG journeys, from developing innovative concepts and building partnerships to communicating their initiatives and delivering meaningful outcomes within communities.
The CREST programme reflects NSBM’s commitment to student-centred, experiential learning, empowering students to move beyond theoretical understanding and engage with real-world challenges. Through the programme, students had the opportunity to develop essential skills in leadership, teamwork, project management, communication, entrepreneurship, and social responsibility while contributing towards the achievement of the SDGs.
