Celebrating a momentous milestone in expanding global horizons, His Excellency Michael Appleton, High Commissioner of New Zealand to Sri Lanka and Maldives, honoured NSBM Green University with an official visit on 17th October 2023. H.E., the High Commissioner, was accompanied by a distinguished delegation of Ms. Sumudu Jayasinghe, Policy Adviser and Ms. Nimali Digo Arachchi, Executive Assistant to the High Commissioner. 

The H.E., the High Commissioner and the visiting dignitaries were extended a gracious reception by Prof. E.A. Weerasinghe, the Vice Chancellor of NSBM Green University.  

The highlight of this momentous visit included a ceremonial activity led by H.E. High Commissioner, the opening of the Globel Connect office of NSBM, which will be operating to provide global higher education support services. 

During the visit, the delegation was given an immersive tour of the university to witness the existing facilities of the university and the progress of the NSBM Phase II. They also engaged in discussions with NSBM staff and students, including Prof. Chaminda Rathnayake, Deputy Vice-chancellor, Prof. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Head of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Deans of the five faculties of NSBM, heads of the departments and fellow NSBM academic and non-academic staff members. The visit also provided an opportunity to showcase NSBM’s evolution over the years, emphasising its visionary plans, strategic initiatives, and ambitious expansions for the future. 

Expressing admiration for NSBM’s commitment to empowering the youth, H.E. High Commissioner left a special note in the NSBM Guest Book. To commemorate this special visit, the HE High Commissioner was presented with a special token of appreciation, solidifying the bonds of collaboration.
