ICACT 2026 Workshops and Training Series Successfully Conducts Workshops on Interdisciplinary Research and Academic Publishing
As part of the ICACT 2026 Workshops and Training Series, two insightful academic workshops were successfully conducted on 12 July 2026 at the Faculty of Computing, NSBM Green University, providing valuable learning opportunities for academics, postgraduate researchers, and undergraduate researchers.
The first workshop, titled “Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Studies”, was organized in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS) and the Committee on Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Studies (IDTDS).
The workshop featured expert contributions from distinguished academics including Dr. R. D. Gunaratne, Chair of the IDTDS Committee, SLAAS; Prof. Saroj Jayasinghe, University of Colombo (Retd.); and Prof. Prasad Jayaweera, Dean, Faculty of Computing, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
The session provided participants with valuable insights into the concepts, approaches, and significance of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research, encouraging researchers to explore collaborative approaches that address complex challenges across multiple disciplines.
The second workshop, titled “From Undergraduate Research to Publication: Writing and Publishing a Quality Research Paper”, was conducted by Prof. Prasad M. Jayaweera, Dean, Faculty of Computing, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
The workshop offered practical guidance on academic writing, developing high-quality research papers, understanding the research publication process, and preparing manuscripts for successful journal publication. The session enabled participants to enhance their research writing capabilities and gain a deeper understanding of effective research dissemination.
The Faculty of Computing extends its sincere appreciation to Prof. Prasad M. Jayaweera and all distinguished resource persons for sharing their expertise, experience, and valuable insights with the participants.
Both workshops were coordinated by Ms. Yasanthika Mathotaarachchi, Lecturer and Secretary of the ICACT 2026 Conference, under the guidance of Dr. Rasika Ranaweera, ICACT 2026 Conference Chair and Dean, Faculty of Computing, and Mr. Naji Sarvanapavan, ICACT 2026 Co-Conference Chair and Deputy Dean, Faculty of Computing.
