Education Minister makes an official visit to NSBM Green University


In appreciation of many proactive and timely endeavours of NSBM Green University to shoulder the national responsibilities at all times as a committed higher education institute in Sri Lanka, the Minister of Education (Dr.) Hon. Susil Premajayantha made an official visit to the NSBM premises today, 16th August 2022 .

The Hon. Minster’s visit was underscored as highly significant as it was his first visit to NSBM since assuming duties as the Minister of Education and he was joined by several other officials and dignitaries. The objective of this visit was to discuss the progress NSBM has achieved since its onset and it visionary plans for the future.

The Hon. Minster and the other visiting officials were warmly welcomed by Prof. E.A. Weerasinghe, Vice-Chancellor and also had a brief interaction with NSBM staff, including Prof Chaminda Rathnayake, Deputy Vice-chancellor, Prof Baratha Dodankotuwa, Head – Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Deans of the five faculties of NSBM, heads of the departments and fellow NSBM academic and non-academic staff members.

During an inspectional tour, the Hon. Minister was able to witness the existing facilities of the university and observed the progress of the ongoing construction works of Phase II of the Green University project on another 16 acres of land adjoining the current premises. He also visisted the “NSBM Vegetable Park” cultivation land in Phase II premises.

Special appreciation for NSBM came from the Minister in admiring its dedicated efforts and innovative practices as a self-financed government-owned university to continuously strengthen the pressing priorities of the nation’s higher education sector, with a prerequisite to empower the minds of the future generation that shapes the nation.

The visiting dignitaries were briefed on the university’s progress and accomplishments over the years since its inception and also presented an overview of the future plans of NSBM, especially related to strategic initiatives and physical expansions with Phase II developments, which shall encompass more state-of-the-art amenities and widen the opportunities on offer at NSBM.
