NSBM Green University had the honour of hosting Lord Mervyn Davies of Abersoch, the UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Andrew Patrick, British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka and their distinguished delegation, who made an official visit to the university premises on 01st November 2023.  

This distinguished delegation comprised key figures such as Mrs. Ajita Hathlia, Deputy Director Trade & UK Exports – South Asia, British High Commission, Mumbai, Dr. Nicholas Gribit, Strategic Policy Lead – South Asia, Department for Business and Trade, UK, Mr. Michael Fernandopulle, Head of Trade & Investment, British High Commission, Sri Lanka, and Ms. Asanthi Fernando, Deputy Head of Trade & Investment, British High Commission, Sri Lanka.  

The visit commenced with a gracious reception extended to the delegation by Prof. E.A. Weerasinghe, the Vice Chancellor of NSBM Green University.   

During the visit, the distinguished delegation embarked on an immersive tour to witness the existing facilities of the university and the progress of the NSBM Phase II. They also engaged in discussions with NSBM Top Management, staff and students.  

In parallel to this special occasion, the British Council Sri Lanka hosted a thought-provoking “Climate Crunch” quiz competition, in which NSBM staff and undergraduates actively participated. 

Lord Mervyn Davies and His Excellency Andrew Patrick expressed their admiration for NSBM’s unwavering commitment to higher education and left special notes in the NSBM Guest Book as a gesture of appreciation. In honour of this special occasion, the dignitaries were presented with a special token of appreciation.
