Profile
Navini Premalal is a Lecturer in Law and Attorney-at-Law with academic and research interests in human rights, refugee protection, climate justice, and international law. She holds an LLM in Human Rights with Distinction from the University of Hong Kong, a Master of Arts in Human Rights and Multiculturalism from the University of Peradeniya, and an LLB (Hons) from the University of Peradeniya. Navini has teaching experience in legal method, human rights, administrative law, property law, and equity and trusts, and her work is shaped by a strong commitment to justice for displaced and marginalised communities. She has an active background in mooting and debating, having served as President of the Mooting and Debating Society at the University of Peradeniya, reached the quarter-finals of the LAWASIA Moot Court Competition in 2018, and won the Best Respondent Memorial at the H. V. Perera QC Moot Court Competition in 2017. She has also served as a moot coach and mentor and has contributed to research and policy work on migration, trafficking, reintegration, and access to justice.
