Senior Professor Pathmalal M Manage is a distinguished academic leader and Professor of Zoology who formerly served as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Holding a Ph.D. in Microbial Ecology and Eco-toxicology, he has built a globally recognized career marked by groundbreaking, world-first research findings. His extensive work spans eco-toxicology, water quality assessment, environmental microbiology, and bioremediation, positioning him as a leading scientific authority both in Sri Lanka and internationally. A prolific scholar and inventor, Prof. Pathmalal, has published over 170 full papers in peer-reviewed, indexed journals and presented more than 500 research communications at global conferences. He is the author of 35 international book chapters, six books, and four training manuals, and holds six patents that successfully translate his scientific discoveries into practical innovations. His expertise has earned him prestigious global appointments, including an Honorary Professorship at Zhejiang Shuren University in China, Honorary Senior Research Fellowships at Robert Gordon University in the UK and the University of Sydney in Australia, and a 2026 Honorary Fellowship from the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon. In recognition of his unwavering dedication to higher education, research mentorship, and university leadership, Prof. Pathmalal has received numerous prestigious accolades. His extensive honors include multiple Presidential Awards for Scientific Research, the CVCD Excellence Award for the Most Outstanding Senior Researcher, and the Gold Award in the Applied Sciences category at the National Educator Awards. Furthermore, his sustained contributions to innovation and mentorship have been recognized six times under the SUSRED Awards Scheme. Through his scholarship and visionary leadership, Prof. Pathmalal remains a driving force in the advancement of science and academia.
