Oshan Piumantha is a Probationary Lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Tourism at NSBM Green University. He holds a First-Class Honours degree in Film and Television Studies (sp) from University of Kelaniya, where he was recognized as the batch top performer. In 2025, he was awarded the Dr. D.B. Nihalsinghe Memorial Gold Medal for the most outstanding performance in Film and Television Studies and Rev.Fr.Don Peter Gold Medal for the highest GPA.
He is currently reading for his MPhil at the Department of Mass Communication, University of Kelaniya, and is also pursuing his Master’s degree in Sociology at the University of Colombo. He has presented his academic work at national and international conferences, with several publications in peer-reviewed journals and symposiums. His key research areas include Film and Television, Generative AI and Creativity, Copyright Law and AI Artworks, and Public Relations.
In addition to his academic role, Oshan brings hands-on experience in the media industry as a television presenter, director, Assistant Director, Assistant Art Director, Media Manager, and content creator. His creative work, including award-winning short films and nationally broadcast music videos, has received both local and international recognition. He is committed to blending academic insight with creative industry practice, providing students with a dynamic and forward-thinking learning experience.
