BEng (Hons) Robotics and Automation Engineering Top-Up Degree

PLYMOUTH UNIVERSITY - UNITED KINGDOM

Duration -

The BEng (Hons) Robotics and Automation Engineering Top-Up Degree provides a direct progression route into the final year of the University of Plymouth degree programme delivered at NSBM Green University.

The programme is designed for applicants who already possess relevant higher-level engineering qualifications and industrial experience. Delivered on a part-time basis, it enables working professionals to advance their academic qualifications while continuing their careers in industry. Final-year study focuses on advanced embedded programming, machine learning for robotics, high-speed communication, computer vision, and an individual engineering project.

Through practical learning, laboratory work and project-based study, the programme develops advanced technical and problem-solving capabilities relevant to modern robotics, automation and intelligent engineering systems.

KEY FEATURES

  • Direct entry to Level 6 / Final Year
  • Part-time study suitable for working engineering professionals
  • Advanced learning in robotics, automation, artificial intelligence and embedded systems
  • Strong practical and project-based learning using engineering laboratories and specialist software
  • Exposure to areas such as machine learning, computer vision and high-speed communication
  • Completion of a substantial Individual Project

The programme places a strong emphasis on hands-on learning and the practical application of engineering knowledge. Students develop skills in robot design, analysis, programming, control and intelligent systems while strengthening their ability to solve complex engineering problems.

Aims of the Top- Up Program

The Top-Up programme aims to provide a progression pathway for engineering professionals who wish to upgrade their existing qualifications to an honours degree in Robotics and Automation Engineering.

It is designed to deepen students’ knowledge of robotics and related engineering technologies while strengthening their ability to apply engineering principles, mathematical modelling, analytical methods and advanced design approaches to real-world problems.

The programme also promotes independent learning, creativity, professional development and engineering decision-making through practical work and project-based study. Particular emphasis is placed on robotics, embedded systems, artificial intelligence, computer vision and automation technologies.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

Students entering through the Top-Up pathway undertake Level 6 of the BEng (Hons) Robotics and Automation Engineering programme, comprising 120 credits.
