The English Literary Association (ELA) held its October book club on the 31st at the ICML. It was themed around spooky Halloween 🎃.
The book club also served as a welcoming meeting for the newly appointed volunteers who joined with the intention of aiding ELA in organizing and carrying out its many colorful events.
As the theme was halloween, members who arrived in costumes did not disappoint. From Draculas🧛🏻♂️to popular characters🐈⬛ to even tanks, the book club saw a wonderful assortment of dashingly dressed denizens.
The book club had many highlights, first up was the sharing of various ghost 👻 stories where members spoke of their paranormal encounters. A revelation was made: most members have been living ghost-free which is relieving to say the least!
Moving away from spooky stories, the events took a tangent shift when it was decided that everyone will take part in the game, “spin the bottle”, where the person the bottle lands on will introduce themselves and soon will take part in truth or dare.
It was a moment of many laughs for everyone involved and the games went on in a wonderfully chaotic way.
All in all, the Halloween book club was an afternoon of fun, games and scares where everyone involved got to express themselves and get to know each other while representing one of their favourite Halloween characters.
The ELA is ever thankful for the energy and involvement of the club members. We guarantee more exciting book clubs in the future!
Stay tuned!
