The Student Research Symposium in Marketing and Tourism (SRSMT 2022) organized by the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management of NSBM Green University concluded successfully on 12th October 2022 at the University premises. The event was organized in partnership with Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts, a longstanding advocate of the University’s tourism and hospitality related projects.
SRSMT 2022, inculcates research culture as it was the second student research symposium organized by the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management.
This year’s theme was “REMAINING RESILIENT AMIDST ADVERSITY: CONTEMPORARY PERSPECTIVE FROM MARKETING AND TOURISM“.
The symposium featured over 6 oral presentations and 5 poster presentations of undergraduates of the Department of Marketing and Tourism Management across wide array of sub-disciplines, including destination management, sustainable tourism, consumer behavior, and technological advancements in the tourism industry.
The event’s academic value was further enhanced by the presence of several eminent scholars and industry practitioners. Professor Nalin Abeysekera, Dean Faculty of Management Studies, Open University of Sri Lanka graced SRSMT 2022 as the keynote speaker and shared his immeasurable knowledge in marketing and tourism. Moreover, Mr. Hishan Singhawansa, Deputy CEO & Chief Operating Officer of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, also graced the occasion as a special guest speaker and shared his insights about the tourism industry and its future.
SRSMT 2022 was chaired by Dr. Chaminda Wijesinghe, Dean, Faculty of Postgraduate Studies & Professional Advancement, NSBM Green University and the event was held under the guidance of Professor E.A. Weerasinghe the Vice Chancellor of the NSBM Green University and esteemed senior management members of the University.
